START HERE TO HAVE ACCESS FOR ONLINE OFFICIATING CLINICS & EXAMS –

ALL COACHES & USAV PLAYERS SHOULD TAKE THE COURSES AND KNOW HOW TO DO THE REF DUTIES.

Pass the information below to your team players.

Every player needs:

  1. Have their USAV membership show Eligible and linked to WPVC

  2. If you will turn 18 years old on or before 8/31/23 you must do the Safesport course – do this now as we can’t roster you without it

  3. To complete the USAV Ref Courses: ALL ARMOUR/ELITE TEAMS MUST DO

    • Each team needs to have multiple people who know how to do every ref assignment. Your coach may assign players to ref certification requirements.

    • EVERY TEAM WILL HAVE A COACH WHO KNOWS HOW TO DO EVERYTHING.

    • Every player must complete FL23_013 – Jr. Line Judge

    • If you are going to keep the SCORE BOOK, you must complete FL 23_014 Jr. Qualified Scorer Training

    • If you are going to be a DOWN REF, you must complete FL23_012 Jr. Second Referee

    • If you are going to be a Libero Tracker, you must complete FL23_015 Jr. Libero Tracker

    • Once finished let your coach know what courses you are certified to work in

Steps to check to see if you are Eligible & to register for the courses:

  1. Go to www.wpvc.org and log into your SportsEngine account – upper right-hand corner

  2. Then go to the upper right and click on your personal SE icon

  3. Then click on My SportsEngine

  4. Next go to the left-hand side of the page and choose household

  5. Once in household, choose the person’s name who needs to do the USAV ref courses

  6. Then go to “view details” on the bottom of the USAV membership details

  7. Does the membership show Eligible? And does it show Assigned to Winter Park Volleyball Academy? If it doesn’t, then complete any missing items and if you have questions contact the office for assistance.

  8. Once you show as Eligible, then you can do your Ref Courses. To start those once in the view details you will see USAV Academy on the upper right side

  9. Then the first time in you will get a welcome screen – after reading this, choose “continue to my dashboard”: Click the course icons to launch them. In the left navigation bar, click the Content Library to select and enroll in your courses. As you complete your courses, your achievements will be found under Certificates.

  10. In the Content Library choose the first course “FL 22_150 Tournament Officiating Team Instructions for Coaches” – this will lead to all courses that the players and coaches will need to have access to

  11. You can start the course and then your dashboard will keep up with the progress on all courses

  12. Let your coach know what courses you have completed. As only certified players will be allowed to do those referee responsibilities.

Reffing Information

  • For those of you who are new to being a club parent, or as a reminder for all parents, your team will be the “work team” 1-2 times per day of play at a tournament and the team will be required to have 2 line judges, 1 scorekeeper (the book), 1 scoreboard (the flip score board), 1 libero tracker, 1 down ref, and a coach or rostered member must do a job at the table or be the down ref (which is near the table and able to monitor the table).

    • 5 players and 1 coach are needed to be working at each set.

  • USAV sanctioned events and their AAU Chaperone (or coach) for AAU sanctioned events to help at the table. A coach may enlist the help of a rostered adult (which means they have their USAV Chaperone (or coach) membership for USAV sanctioned events and their AAU Chaperone (or coach) for AAU sanctioned events to help at the table.

  • Reminder, no one can do a job other than scoreboard unless they are a coach or the player and/or chaperone fully understands how to do this job – the videos below will give the full instructions.

  • There isn’t a course to pass for AAU ref courses so just be sure the team members and/or chaperone watch the videos.

  • We have an important job as the work team and this reflects on the club if you do not do your job well, so please take this seriously.

  • Be sure to email justin@wpvc.org if your coach has asked to add you as a chaperone (not every team will have one) so you get rostered; generally, there can be only 1 chaperone per team on the roster. A chaperone needs to have an eligible membership and then they can get rostered. This will allow them to help the coach and to work while the team is the “work team” when needed.
