PRACTICE SCHEDULES

The Fall schedule and Full Season schedules will not be the same, so just because you are certain days & times on the Fall schedule the times can change for full season.  Boys coaches, please be sure your team parents know that the schedule for the Fall may be different. We will provide you the full season schedule as soon as possible.  And the schedules will be on the website – and it will be on the bulletin board.

Fall Schedule

  • August – October 24th We will have Mini Club teams, Armour & Elite Training Courts, and the Boys Teams will be starting practices September 16th.

Full Season Schedule

  • November 6 – June--this schedule will have all of our girls teams and boys teams and is the official full season schedule.

  • The schedule by court will be on the bulletin board so you can see which court you will be - it may be a different court on your practice days. So, check carefully.

Annex Courts

  • We have 2 courts listed as court 7 & 8 on the practice schedule layout.  These courts are across the street in the Annex Building.  Please enter through the side door.

Court Sharing

  • Some teams are court sharing for 1 practice a week. This is the only way to get every team in our schedule and it can be beneficial to get opportunities to play against another team or to divide up by skill and have the coaches work with different players.  The court sharing coaches should coordinate what they want to work on for that practice. Similar level teams and age are court sharing.

Practice Shirts

  • Players will get their practice shirts at their first practice.  Armour teams get 3 shirts. Elite and Central teams get 2 shirts.  Players will get their gear before their first tournament.  Boys teams we may be giving out their items a little at the time as it arrives, but the girls will have their items in and the teams will receive them all at once.

  • If a player owes the uniform fee and /or ball fee they will not get their gear – so be sure to check with the office that none of your players are missing their payments.

Number of Practice Days/Conditioning

  • Girls and Boys Armour teams get 3 practices a week. Girls & Boys Elite get 2 practices a week and 1-2x a month they get a 3rd practice. Central teams get 2 practices per week.

  • Armour Girls will have their 3rd practices on Fridays. Girls Elite will have their 3rd practices on Sunday. Boys Armour will have their 3rd practices on Sunday.

  • The 3rd practice concept is skill training and then eventually some scrimmaging; you will be court sharing and it is not set up as team practices.

  • Armour girls 13 and up and Armour boys get conditioning 2 times a week. The girls Armour are on their weekday practices (except Fridays) and Armour boys get their conditioning 1 day during the week and on Sunday. The schedule reflects this.

  • Arrive at least 5 minutes early; or message your coach to alert them if you are running late.

Etiquette

Practice Etiquette

  • Make sure you are helping shag balls from your court when your coach tells you it's time to clean up.

  • When practice is over do not linger on the court, and shag the balls.

  • Players should stay on or near their court. It is dangerous for players to be running all over the gym or other courts while players are on those courts.

  • Parents and players should clean up after themselves with food/water bottles – DO NOT LEAVE A MESS.

  • Put chairs back and leave the court fully clean – this helps our facility to stay neat for all teams.

  • Put any equipment back where it goes after you are finished using it.

  • Injury/first aide: We have an ice-machine; and there is a first aide cabinet. The office will have the key. If more serious injury, the coach will complete an injury report – forms located at the front desk.

  • Concession stand will be open during practice. Please make purchases at the front desk.

  • We are holding Strength & Conditioning (S&C) for Armour Teams.

  • We will have open S&C time slots for players who do not get it as part of their team package –we are going to be releasing the sign ups for the open slots starting at the end of October.

Holiday Schedule

Holiday Schedule

  • We are closed for Thanksgiving, only practice on Monday and Tuesday

  • We are closed Dec 24-25 & Dec 31-Jan 1 – no practices & no lessons

    • Other than these 4 days above practices continue during the holidays.

    • If your coach decides not to have practice on those days they will let you know in advance.

  • The facility is closed on all major holidays: Easter, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (Wed-Fri) and Christmas closed 24-25 and Dec 31-Jan 1.

Lessons

Lessons

Lessons are booked on the WPVC Website: https://www.wpvc.org/private-lessons

  • Parents book the lesson through their child’s Mindbody Account at https://www.wpvc.org/private-lessons

  • For full season there will not be courts available starting at 4 pm Monday through Friday as the gym is full of practices

  • All lesson blocks are for 1 hour on the hour.

  • All lessons are booked by the client, not by the coach. Court fee is $30 ($50 for non-WPVC members) – this will be paid online at time of booking the lesson.  Then the client pays the coach $40 (however the coach chooses to collect - ex: cash, venmo, cash app)– so lessons are $70 total. If you do 2-4 players in a lesson only 1 books the court and then they can share the lesson cost.

  • 4 Athletes Max per lesson - Cost is 1 athlete $70 total, 2 athletes $90 total, 3 athletes $105 total, and 4 athletes $120 total.  ($30 goes to the court fee the remainder is split between the athletes and paid directly to the coach)

  • All lessons must be booked through the system – no exceptions. The office needs to know who to expect to arrive and the courts are reserved through booking a lesson online. This means there can’t be double booking.

  • There will be tournaments in our gym on some Saturdays and Sundays and we will block the dates as soon as we know these dates our gym is booked.

  • With Boys teams and some girls teams practicing on Sundays, lessons will be available on Sunday but court openings will be limited. We will be opening the courts for lessons on Saturdays when the gym isn’t booked for tournaments and staff pending.

FAQs

PRACTICE
FAQs

Q. CAN WE GET EARLIER PRACTICE TIMES?

No, each team will have set practice times.  WPVC does their best to give each team the best options for practices.  There is a lot that goes into these decisions, coaches’ availability and working the puzzle of giving each team the number of practices they need does make the practice schedule plan a large task. If teams are traveling or if they cancel practice, we do offer teams to move their practice earlier.  Or when our high-school age boys’ teams are playing for their high school volleyball teams (boys have a split season they go from Sept – Feb then May – June) the months of Feb, March & April, then courts can come available.  We will work with the coaches to adjust their practice schedule during these months if earlier time slots are available.

Q. ARE THERE CONSEQUENCES FOR MISSED PRACTICES?

Determined by his/her coach.

Q. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO WEAR THE SAME COLOR PRACTICE SHIRTS?

Coaches and team will determine practice day colors.  This is a WPVC requirement, any consequences will be determined by his/her coach.

Q. ARE PARENTS ALLOWED TO WATCH PRACTICE?

Yes. Parents are allowed to stay and watch their player practice. We ask that you do not interfere with the practice or coach your child from the sideline. Many times in practice a coach will try players out in new positions or try new rotations. It does not definitively mean that your child's position or rotation has changed. It's just practice. Please let the coach do their job.
